Isokon Building

Wells Coates · London, United Kingdom · 1934

The Isokon Building was conceived as an experiment in compact communal living. Its small apartments originally relied on shared domestic services, while the smooth white exterior expressed a new architectural language. Bauhaus emigrants were among its residents. A later restoration returned the building to residential use and conserved its modernist character.
