Zorlu Center

Emre Arolat Architecture + Tabanlıoğlu Architects · Istanbul, Turkey · 2013

Zorlu Center combines offices, residences, hotel, retail and a major performing-arts venue within a dense hilltop development above one of Istanbul’s principal transport corridors. Emre Arolat and Tabanlıoğlu Architects organize the complex around a large landscaped public roof and a series of high-rise volumes rather than a single isolated tower. The performing-arts center is embedded within the lower levels and connects to a broad interior public realm. Opened in 2013, Zorlu is a major example of contemporary Istanbul’s large mixed-use megaprojects and their attempt to integrate landscape, transit and cultural program.
