Zaryadye Park
Diller Scofidio + Renfro + Hargreaves Associates + Citymakers · Moscow, Russia · 2017
Zaryadye Park occupies a highly charged central site beside the Kremlin and Red Square. The design overlays constructed roofs, cultural facilities and circulation with landscapes representing different Russian biomes, creating a hybrid of park, building and civic infrastructure. Diller Scofidio + Renfro led the design consortium with Hargreaves Associates and Citymakers. The floating river overlook and partially embedded buildings make the artificial and natural systems deliberately inseparable. Opened in 2017, it was Moscow’s first major new central park in decades and quickly became a key example of contemporary landscape urbanism in Russia.
