Zaragoza Bridge Pavilion
Zaha Hadid Architects · Zaragoza, Spain · 2008
Zaha Hadid's Bridge Pavilion combines a river crossing with enclosed exhibition space. Built for Zaragoza's 2008 Expo, its branching form spans the Ebro and produces changing widths, heights and views along the route. A patterned external skin reinforces the sense of a continuous, flowing body rather than a conventional bridge deck with a separate building placed above it. The structure later became the home of Mobility City, bringing a new museum programme into the former exposition landmark. Look for the way circulation, enclosure and river landscape are treated as one architectural problem. Visiting: The pavilion houses Mobility City.
