Yatsushiro Municipal Museum Future Forest
Toyo Ito & Associates · Yatsushiro, Japan · 1991
One of Toyo Ito's important early public buildings, the museum breaks the institution into a collection of light roofs, metallic volumes and glazed connectors. The composition feels intentionally provisional and mobile, reflecting Ito's transition from the abstract domestic work of the 1980s toward larger civic architecture.
