White Tower
Moisei Reischer · Yekaterinburg, Russia · 1929
The White Tower was built as the water tower for the new Uralmash industrial district and is one of Yekaterinburg’s most celebrated constructivist structures. Moisei Reischer expressed the large cylindrical tank as a clear functional volume elevated on slender reinforced-concrete supports, with a compact stair tower attached to one side. The building used then-advanced concrete and welding technologies and became a symbol of the planned socialist factory city. Completed in 1929, it later fell out of use but has become the focus of sustained preservation and cultural-reuse efforts.
