Wat Xieng Thong

Lao royal workshops · Luang Prabang, Laos · 1560

Wat Xieng Thong is distinguished by the low, sweeping roof of its principal temple hall. Timber, mosaic and richly worked surfaces give the complex an intimate material character. Smaller shrines and ancillary buildings make the site a varied architectural ensemble rather than a single isolated monument. Visiting: A small entry fee applies; dress rules apply.
