Herzog & de Meuron stacked elongated house-like volumes to create a showroom with projecting glazed ends. The composition turns a familiar domestic outline into a larger spatial experiment, with views and interior routes connecting the different levels to the surrounding campus. Visiting: VitraHaus is free to enter, with the top-floor window views over the campus. Paid architecture tours take in the other buildings on the Vitra Campus.
