Villa Cimbrone
Unknown / Ernest William Beckett · Ravello, Italy · 1904
Villa Cimbrone is a historic estate in Ravello known for its garden architecture and extraordinary relationship to the Amalfi Coast landscape. Although the site has older origins, its current character was shaped through early twentieth-century restoration and reinvention. The villa and gardens combine cloisters, terraces, pergolas, sculpture, and axial paths, producing an architectural experience that is less about a single façade and more about staged movement. The famous Terrace of Infinity turns the cliff edge into a monumental viewing device, where architecture frames the sea and horizon. For ArchiAtlas, Villa Cimbrone is a strong example of how landscape design, historicism, and tourism culture merge into a built spatial sequence.
