Vancouver Convention Centre – West Building
LMN Architects; MCM; DA Architects + Planners · Vancouver, Canada · 2009
The West Building of Vancouver's Convention Centre extends a large events programme along the harbour while preserving public movement around its edge. Opened in 2009, the project combines a broad planted roof, glazed public faces and substantial structural spans. LMN, MCM and DA Architects organized the complex so that its waterfront setting contributes to the experience of circulation and gathering. The public promenade is an essential part of the project, allowing the building to be understood as a piece of shoreline infrastructure as well as an enclosed venue. Visiting: The waterfront promenade is free. Interior event areas and tours depend on the venue's operations.
