UNAM Rectoría Tower

Mario Pani + Enrique del Moral + Salvador Ortega Flores · Mexico City, Mexico · 1952

The Rectoría building forms one of the principal visual anchors of UNAM’s Ciudad Universitaria. A slender administrative slab rises above a lower horizontal base, while murals by David Alfaro Siqueiros transform key façades into large public artworks. The design combines modern office planning with volcanic stone, open plazas and integrated art, tying the building to the broader campus strategy. Executed from 1950 to 1952, Rectoría stands opposite the Central Library and helps define the university’s UNESCO-listed ceremonial core.
