Tower 25 / White Walls
Ateliers Jean Nouvel · Nicosia, Cyprus · 2013
Tower 25, also known as White Walls, combines apartments, offices and commercial space in a slender high-rise whose façades respond differently to orientation. Jean Nouvel uses deep balconies, planted screens and perforated white surfaces to create an inhabited environmental envelope rather than a conventional glass curtain wall. Vegetation is integrated into the elevations and changes the tower’s appearance over time, while the upper levels open toward views across Nicosia. Completed in 2013, the project is an important contemporary landmark in a city otherwise dominated by lower urban fabric.
