The Spiral

The Spiral is a high-rise office tower in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards district. Its defining feature is a continuous sequence of planted terraces that wraps upward around the glass tower, creating outdoor spaces for tenants on many levels and giving the building a softer, stepped profile. Unlike many office towers where landscape is limited to the lobby or roof, The Spiral distributes greenery vertically and makes it visible from the city. The project extends BIG’s interest in combining high-density development with accessible outdoor space. For architectural visitors, it is a useful contemporary example of the planted skyscraper typology and a prominent addition to the rapidly changing west side skyline.
