The Hill House

Charles Rennie Mackintosh; Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh · Helensburgh, United Kingdom · 1904

The Hill House combines a restrained roughcast exterior with carefully coordinated interiors, furniture and decorative work. Mackintosh and Macdonald connect Scottish domestic traditions with a forward-looking design language. Carmody Groarke's later mesh enclosure protects the house during conservation and adds a new way to experience its exterior.
