Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

ABDR Architetti Associati · Florence, Italy · 2011

The Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino forms a contemporary cultural gateway between central Florence and the Cascine park. ABDR arranged auditoria, rehearsal facilities and public foyers within a low terraced base, with a prominent fly tower rising behind. Broad exterior steps and roof planes extend the public realm across the complex, while the principal halls are tuned for opera and symphonic performance. The architecture favors large abstract surfaces and controlled circulation over direct historic reference. The first phase opened in 2011 and the wider complex developed through subsequent stages, so this record uses the initial opening as its date and flags the phased completion for review.
