Takasaki City Hall

Kume Sekkei · Takasaki, Japan · 1998

The slender civic tower rises beside Takasaki's older cultural buildings and uses a curved glazed facade to open municipal functions toward the city. Its public observation spaces and prominent urban position make it a useful late-1990s counterpoint to the heavier postwar civic architecture nearby.
