OMA’s Taipei Performing Arts Center groups three theatres around a compact central cube, allowing the auditoria to operate independently or combine into unconventional performance configurations. The most recognizable element is the spherical Globe Playhouse projecting from one side, while the other theatres extend as large geometric volumes in different directions. A public circulation loop allows visitors to move through parts of the building without attending a performance, exposing backstage processes and urban views. Opened in 2022, the center is a deliberately flexible alternative to the conventional symmetrical performing-arts complex.
