Jean Nouvel designed the University of Cyprus Learning Resource Centre as an artificial hill rather than a conventional freestanding library. Layered colored membranes wrap the planted slopes while a white translucent dome emerges at the summit above the main reading room. The building gathers library, information technology, language and learning services into a central campus resource while using landscape, shading and controlled daylight as primary architectural systems. Completed and occupied in 2018, it is one of Cyprus’s most significant contemporary institutional buildings and a rare large-scale Nouvel project in the eastern Mediterranean.
