St Peter's Seminary, Cardross

Gillespie, Kidd & Coia; Isi Metzstein; Andy MacMillan · Cardross, United Kingdom · 1966

This former seminary used stepped concrete forms, open circulation and a powerful chapel volume to reinterpret religious education through modern architecture. Closed and later abandoned, it survives as a significant architectural ruin. The site illustrates both the ambition of post-war Scottish modernism and the difficulty of conserving disused concrete buildings.
