St Mary's Cathedral Johannesburg

Herbert Baker; Frank Fleming · Johannesburg, South Africa · 1929

Baker and Fleming used a restrained church composition to create a major Anglican cathedral in Johannesburg. The stone exterior, tower and carefully proportioned interior give the building a different civic presence from the commercial high-rises and infrastructure of the surrounding city. Visiting: An active Anglican cathedral in central Johannesburg; visitors can usually enter outside services.
