Gujarat Sultanate workshops · Ahmedabad, India · 1573

The Sidi Saiyyed Mosque is especially known for its finely carved stone window screens. Their branching patterns make solid stone appear delicate and permeable, filtering light into the prayer space. The compact mosque provides a concentrated example of the technical refinement and ornamental invention of late Gujarat Sultanate architecture. Visiting: A religious site. Basic access is normally free, with local worship, dress and photography restrictions; additional visitor attractions can be charged.
