Shimane Art Museum
Kiyonori Kikutake · Matsue, Japan · 1999
Kiyonori Kikutake stretches the museum as a low curving form along the shore of Lake Shinji. The building's long glass facade, broad roof and waterfront lawn make sunset and landscape central to the visit, while the geometry recalls the architect's lifelong interest in large adaptable megastructural forms at a more intimate scale.
