Shenzhen Energy Mansion HQ

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) · Shenzhen, China · 2017

Shenzhen Energy Mansion HQ is a pair of office towers designed around environmental performance and facade geometry. BIG developed a folded facade system that helps reduce solar gain while preserving views and daylight, giving the towers their distinctive pleated appearance. The project shows how corporate architecture in a dense subtropical city can use envelope design as both an environmental strategy and an architectural identity. Rather than applying sustainability as a hidden technical layer, the towers make climate response visible in the building’s form. For visitors in Shenzhen, the project is a strong example of BIG’s work in China and a useful case study in high-rise facade performance.
