Shanghai Tower

Gensler · Shanghai, China · 2015

The Shanghai Tower is a prominent mixed-use skyscraper in Shanghai's Pudong district, notable for its distinctive spiraling form and 2015 completion. Its design integrates nine cylindrical sections stacked atop each other, enclosed by a double-skin glass facade. This form, along with its unique vertical organization, contributes to its status as one of the world's tallest buildings. Designed by Gensler, the tower's architectural expression is a contemporary interpretation of supertall building design. The building's twisting shape and transparent exterior create a visual landmark within the urban landscape, while its internal organization reflects a concept of vertical communities within the skyscraper.
