Seema Malaka
Geoffrey Bawa · Colombo, Sri Lanka · 1976
Seema Malaka places a series of light pavilions over the water of Beira Lake. Geoffrey Bawa's redesign uses bridges, terraces and modest roofed spaces to create a calm setting within central Colombo. The architecture depends on the contrast between the lake's open surface, the close scale of the pavilions and the surrounding city. Visiting: Visitor entry can be ticketed. The temple is a working religious space; follow local dress and conduct requirements.
