Sara Kulturhus

White Arkitekter · Skellefteå, Sweden · 2021

Sara Kulturhus is a major contemporary timber complex combining a cultural center with a high-rise hotel in central Skellefteå. Designed by White Arkitekter and opened in 2021, the project uses engineered timber at a scale that makes the structure itself a central part of the architectural expression. Cultural venues occupy lower interconnected volumes while the hotel rises above as a timber tower. The building demonstrates how local forestry knowledge and prefabricated wood construction can be applied to a dense mixed public program and high-rise typology.
