Sapporo Dome

Hiroshi Hara; Atelier Phi · Sapporo, Japan · 2001

Hiroshi Hara's stadium is conceived as a vast enclosed landscape rather than a conventional bowl. Its most distinctive feature is the movable natural-grass football pitch, which slides outdoors for sunlight and maintenance, while the silver shell and observation deck make the building a major landmark on Sapporo's southern edge.
