Sagrada Família

Antoni Gaudí · Barcelona, Spain · 2026

The Basílica de la Sagrada Família is a large, unfinished Roman Catholic minor basilica in Barcelona, Spain. It was designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, and his unique vision blends Gothic and Art Nouveau forms. Characterized by its towering spires, intricate facades depicting biblical scenes, and distinctive organic shapes, the building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Construction began in 1882, and Gaudí devoted much of his life to the project, taking over as chief architect in 1883. The basilica is known for its three grand facades: the Nativity Facade, the Passion Facade, and the Glory Facade, each with distinct sculptural programs. It remains under construction, with a projected completion date anticipated for the centennial of Gaudí's death.
