Reunification Palace

Ngô Viết Thụ · Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam · 1966

Ngô Viết Thụ's Reunification Palace gives a state building a restrained modern exterior and a carefully organized ceremonial interior. Repeated concrete screens moderate the façade, while reception rooms, circulation and landscaped grounds reflect the building's governmental role. Its preserved spaces connect architectural design with the political history of twentieth-century Vietnam. Visiting: Entry is ticketed; the screened facade can be seen freely from the park on Le Duan Boulevard.
