RAC Arena
Ashton Raggatt McDougall (ARM) + Cameron Chisholm Nicol · Perth, Australia · 2012
RAC Arena is a large indoor entertainment venue whose fragmented façade, sharply folded geometry and intense graphic treatment make the building deliberately legible at metropolitan scale. ARM and Cameron Chisholm Nicol developed the composition from intersecting volumes and public forecourts rather than a conventional symmetrical arena shell. A retractable roof expands the venue’s event flexibility, while the exterior creates a strong urban edge along Wellington Street. Opened in 2012 as Perth Arena, it is a prominent example of expressive contemporary architecture in central Perth.
