Qutb Minar
Architect not documented; Delhi Sultanate builders · Delhi, India
The Qutb Minar rises above the remains of Delhi's early Sultanate complex. Its changing bands of masonry, projecting balconies and densely carved inscriptions reveal successive building campaigns. At ground level, the relationship between the tower, mosque remains and reused architectural fragments makes the site a record of construction, adaptation and political change. Visiting: Entry is ticketed, with higher rates for foreign visitors.
