Queen Sirikit National Convention Center

Design 103 International · Bangkok, Thailand · 2022

The renewed Queen Sirikit National Convention Center dramatically expands Bangkok's principal convention venue while keeping the complex embedded beside Benjakitti Park. Long horizontal rooflines, deep shaded edges and broad ceremonial interiors organize a program of exhibition halls, meeting rooms and public circulation. Contemporary materials are paired with motifs and spatial references intended to evoke Thai craft and landscape without copying historic temple forms. The redevelopment also improves links to transit and the surrounding park network. This record uses 2022, the completion date of the rebuilt and expanded center, rather than the 1991 opening of the original facility. Because the project incorporates replacement and transformation, its date and status deserve explicit editorial context.
