The Presidential Palace occupies a prominent position within Praia’s historic Plateau district and forms part of the civic ensemble around Praça Alexandre Albuquerque. Its two-story arcaded composition, pale façades and tiled roofs reflect the layered Portuguese colonial architectural character of the capital rather than a single modern state-building campaign. The structure has been altered through multiple periods and now serves as the official presidential residence and workplace. Because the surviving building is historically multi-phase, assigning one precise completion date would obscure its architectural development.
