Pienza Cathedral
Bernardo Rossellino · Pienza, Italy · 1462
Rossellino's cathedral forms one side of Pius II's ideal Renaissance square and is deliberately filled with light through unusually large Gothicizing windows. Its facade participates in the tightly calibrated proportional composition of Piazza Pio II, making the church best understood together with the surrounding civic buildings and paving.
