Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Morphosis / Thom Mayne · Dallas, United States · 2012

Morphosis gave the Perot Museum a strong architectural identity through a textured concrete volume raised above a landscaped base. Opened in 2012, the building makes circulation visible through a glazed escalator projecting across its façade. Exhibition spaces occupy the more enclosed upper body, while the ground-level setting connects the museum with outdoor activity and the city. The project is useful for examining how a largely internal scientific programme can produce a recognizable public frontage and an animated arrival sequence. Visiting: Regular exhibition admission is ticketed. Check the museum's current visiting arrangements.
