Patan Durbar Square

Malla court workshops · Lalitpur, Nepal

Patan Durbar Square brings palace courts, temples and public space into a compact urban ensemble. Brick, timber and carved stone give the square a rich material character. Its architecture is experienced through changing views between freestanding sacred buildings and the more continuous edge of the former royal palace. Visiting: Foreign visitors pay an entry fee for the square, which includes the Patan Museum courtyard area.
