Parliament Building, Malaysia

Ivor Shipley · Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia · 1963

Malaysia's Parliament complex combines a low assembly building with a taller office block. Its modern façades and external shading express a new national institution through a distinct post-independence architectural language. The contrast between the two main volumes gives the parliamentary programme a clear and memorable composition within its landscaped site. Visiting: Seen from outside near the Lake Gardens; interior visits need advance permission.
