Palacio Postal
Adamo Boari; Gonzalo Garita · Mexico City, Mexico · 1907
Mexico City's Palacio Postal combines a working public service with an unusually elaborate architectural setting. Adamo Boari and Gonzalo Garita completed the building in 1907, bringing several historical references into its stone frontage and richly detailed interior. Metal stairs, glazed roofing and decorative craft give the public hall a character quite different from a utilitarian postal office. The relationship between modern construction technology and an eclectic decorative language is central to the project, while later restoration has helped recover its original public spaces. Visiting: The working postal palace has public areas during opening hours. Check current access before entering upper levels.
