Osaka Culturarium at Tempozan

Tadao Ando · Osaka, Japan · 1994

Originally built as the Suntory Museum, the waterfront complex combines an inverted concrete cone, rectangular gallery volume and IMAX theatre into a tightly composed group of pure geometries. The harbor setting intensifies Ando's recurring contrast between heavy concrete, open water and precisely framed movement.
