Open Hand Monument
Le Corbusier · Chandigarh, India · 1985
The Open Hand Monument translates one of Le Corbusier's recurring symbols into a large rotating metal sculpture. Set within the Capitol Complex, the hand is framed by an excavated gathering space and the open landscape beyond. It connects the architectural plan of Chandigarh with an explicit symbolic statement about exchange and collective life. Visiting: Part of the controlled Capitol Complex visitor route.
