Omniturm

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) · Frankfurt, Germany · 2019

Omniturm is a mixed-use tower in Frankfurt that introduces a visible shift in the middle of the high-rise. BIG uses the offset floors to mark the transition between office and residential programs, making the building’s internal mixture legible on the skyline. The project challenges the typical financial-district tower by inserting housing into a predominantly commercial vertical environment and expressing that programmatic change through form. Its bending profile creates terraces and a sense of movement while remaining relatively disciplined within Frankfurt’s dense skyline. Omniturm is a useful stop for understanding how mixed-use programming can become a formal and urban strategy in high-rise design.
