Odunpazarı Modern Museum

Kengo Kuma and Associates · Eskişehir, Turkey · 2019

Odunpazarı Modern Museum is assembled from stacked timber-clad volumes that rotate and step to respond to the scale of Eskişehir’s historic Odunpazarı district. Kengo Kuma and Associates use repeated horizontal timber members to create deep façades, filtered daylight and a warm material identity that references local wooden construction without copying traditional houses. A central atrium links galleries vertically and gives the compact museum a strong internal focus. Opened in 2019, OMM is a major contemporary cultural anchor in central Anatolia and an example of contextual architecture generated through material and scale.
