Nelum Pokuna Theatre translates the geometry of a lotus pond into a contemporary performance building. Its layered exterior gives the large auditorium a distinctive silhouette within central Colombo. The combination of a substantial internal programme and an outwardly expressive enclosure makes the theatre a prominent recent addition to the city's cultural architecture. Visiting: Performances are ticketed; the lotus-pond-inspired exterior can be seen freely.
