Nebuta Museum Wa Rasse

molo design; d/dt Arch.; Frank la Rivière · Aomori, Japan · 2011

A screen of twisting red steel ribbons wraps the museum and creates a vivid threshold between Aomori Station, the waterfront and the dark exhibition halls containing illuminated Nebuta floats. The facade works less as enclosure than as an urban curtain, changing density as visitors move along it.
