The National Library Building places reading rooms and cultural spaces within a tall, environmentally responsive civic building. T. R. Hamzah & Yeang use shading, planted areas and a legible separation of volumes to moderate its scale. Public circulation at the base connects the institution with the surrounding streets and pedestrian routes. Visiting: General public areas have no standard admission charge; special exhibitions, performances and booking requirements can differ.
