Nara Centennial Hall

A vast curved roof and heavy exterior surfaces give Isozaki's concert hall the appearance of a monumental vessel set beside Nara Station. Inside, the complex is more layered, using ramps, foyers and contrasting materials to mediate between the city's historic identity and a deliberately contemporary civic landmark.
