The Museum of Modern Art, Wakayama
Kisho Kurokawa · Wakayama, Japan · 1994
Kurokawa composes the museum from a layered set of gridded frames, metallic roofs and stone-clad masses opposite Wakayama Castle. The complex uses intermediate terraces and gateways to create a deliberately ambiguous transition between city, museum and the adjacent prefectural cultural facilities.
