Pachacamac Site Museum
Patricia Llosa + Rodolfo Cortegana · Lima, Peru · 2015
The new Pachacamac Site Museum is designed as a low extension of the desert landscape beside one of Peru’s most important archaeological sanctuaries. Long walls, shaded courts and carefully controlled openings organize visitor movement while avoiding competition with the pre-Hispanic monuments. Llosa and Cortegana use material restraint and topographic continuity to mediate between contemporary museum requirements and the immense scale of the archaeological territory. The project was completed in 2015 and opened to the public the following year.
