MUNCH

MUNCH is a vertical museum on Oslo’s Bjørvika waterfront designed by estudio Herreros and opened in 2021. Rather than spreading galleries across a low footprint, the building stacks exhibition, conservation and public spaces into a tall slab whose upper section bends toward the city. A translucent perforated envelope changes character with weather and light, while vertical circulation creates repeated views across the harbor. The project is an important part of Bjørvika’s transformation and offers a distinctive model for a dense urban museum with substantial public program.
