Morpheus Hotel

Zaha Hadid Architects · Macau, Macau · 2018

Morpheus is a high-rise hotel enclosed by an exposed structural exoskeleton that wraps around three large voids cut through the center of the building. Zaha Hadid Architects used the free-form steel frame to reduce the need for internal columns while giving the tower a continuous geometric identity from base to roof. Bridges span between the two main vertical cores inside the voids, creating elevated public spaces with views across Cotai. Opened in 2018, Morpheus is one of Macau’s most architecturally ambitious casino-resort buildings and a major late work by Zaha Hadid Architects.
